Privacy policy
Version 1. Effective 7 October 2026.
1. Who we are and how to reach us
ClearCut Commissions is a service of Ethical Tech Solutions, Thornhill, Ontario, Canada. We are responsible for the personal information described here. Our privacy contact is [email protected].
2. The website
- The website clearcutcommissions.com has no sign-up form, no analytics and no advertising tools, and sets no cookies.
- The "Quick answers" helper runs in your browser. Nothing you type in it is sent or saved.
- If you email us, we receive what you send and use it only to reply.
3. What the app collects
| Who | What we collect | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Everyone with an account | Email address, sign-in records | To sign you in and send account emails |
| Referral partners | Display name, handle, region, specialties, short bio, private legal name, payment details you choose to give (such as an e-Transfer email) | To run your profile and statements, and so businesses that approve you can pay and report correctly |
| Businesses | Business name, contact email, mailing address, programs, terms, partner agreement | To run your programs and send emails that follow CASL |
| Both | Referral and payment entries, questions and answers on entries, settings history | To keep the shared record both sides rely on |
4. What we do not collect
- No names, addresses or contact details of the customers being referred are stored in the record. A referral is recorded by partner, program and date.
- No Social Insurance Numbers, and no bank account or card numbers.
- Internet addresses are used briefly to limit abuse and are not stored with your account or records.
5. The interest page
Some businesses turn on an interest page. If you fill it in, your name, contact details and message are emailed to that business together with your consent, and are not kept by ClearCut Commissions. The business then handles them under its own privacy practices.
6. Who sees what
- A business sees only its own programs, partners and records. Its export includes the legal name, display name and email of its own partners, so it can pay them and keep tax records.
- A partner sees only their own statement. Your private legal name and payment details are shown only to businesses that have approved you.
- A public partner page shows only what you choose to make public, and is off by default.
- Service providers process information for us: Cloudflare hosts the app and its database, and Resend sends our emails. They may process it outside Canada, including in the United States, where it may be subject to local laws.
- We disclose information if the law requires it. We do not sell personal information, and we do not use it for advertising.
- If a business shows its own logo, your browser loads it from that business's site.
7. Cookies
The app sets a sign-in cookie, and a preference cookie if you choose to hide the setup guide. There are no tracking or advertising cookies.
8. How long we keep it
- Referral and payment entries stay part of the shared record. Your legal name and payout records are kept for six years for tax purposes, then anonymized.
- If you close your account, we remove your profile and stop using your information, except what must stay with those records.
9. How we protect it
Access is limited by account, so each business and partner sees only their own information. Entries are added, never edited or erased. Information is sent over encrypted connections. No system is free of risk; if a breach creates a real risk of significant harm, we will tell you and the Privacy Commissioner of Canada as the law requires.
10. Your choices and rights
You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or withdraw your consent, subject to legal and record-keeping limits. Write to [email protected]. If you are not satisfied with our answer, you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
11. Changes
We may update this policy. The date at the top shows the current version. For changes that matter, we'll email account holders before they take effect.
